you can’t think about presence, and the mind can’t understand it. Understanding presence is being present.

ECKHART TOLLE

We at the olive branch believe that Yoga connects us to our internal nature. when practiced in the forest, yoga can help us to form a physical connection to the natural world around us. Sarah and Tessa have been best friends sice the age of seven and have always shared a passion for being outside in nature. we are very excited to have tessa collaberate with us at the olive branch, our shared passion is to help others heal and connect to nature through mindfulness, meditation and yoga.

YOGA WITH TESS

Tess has been practicing yoga since 2007. Movement was always an important form of medicine for her, and yoga offered the perfect concoction, mentally, physically and spiritually.
Her regular practice has always been a huge part of her life as a way to sustain a connection, and control over her body and breath, and the philosophy continues to help her in trying to live mindfully.
Tess originally trained to teach yoga in 2014 with Allie Hill at yogahaven London. She has since joined their team of teacher trainers, helping to guide and lead the new budding students to become teachers themselves! Guiding on the trainings is one of her favorite aspects of teaching yoga, especially discussing and exchanging views on the philosophy.
Since training with yogahaven she went on to complete her Ashtanga teacher training in 2016 in India at the Tattvaa Yogashala under the guidance of Yogi Kamal Singh. Ashtanga will always be her “first love”, it was the practice that helped her realize how truly transformational a regular practice can be for the mind and body.
in 2019 she trained in pre-natal yoga, whilst pregnant with her first son. Guiding pregnant women through a yoga practice is something she holds close to her heart, and hopes to continue for years to come. More recently, her studies under the guidance of Laurent Roure, have been focused on pranayama, and yoga Nidra, and the more subtle and therapeutic practices.
Tess’ classes always have a firm focus on how to control and utilize the breath, weather practicing her up- beat Ashtanga, gentle beginners, dynamic vinyasa or slow mindful Hatha.
A balance of honoring the ancient traditions, but with space to laugh and ‘let go’ is her goal.
Ultimately, Tess’s aim as a yoga teacher is to encourage others to find stillness, control, connection and focus, whilst having fun flowing, balancing and flying on their mats.
